Adivi Sesh has gradually amassed a sizable following in Telugu cinema by selecting meaningful topics and putting a lot of effort into his films. He created a number of popular films throughout the years, including Major, which did well in the Hindi market.

His most recent film, Dacoit also starring Mrunal Thakur, was released on Friday in both Telugu and Hindi after 4 year hiatus. Shaniel Deo's first film as a filmmaker is this one. Anurag Kashyap, Prakash Raj, Sunil, and Atul Kulkarni all play significant roles, with Mrunal Thakur playing the female protagonist.

Dacoit receives mixed reviews

One viewer said that although the storyline feels similar to older films, the presentation is fresh. They liked the twists in the second half and especially enjoyed the last 15 minutes. They also praised the performances of Adivi Sesh and Mrunal Thakur, calling the film a “one-time watch” and giving it a rating of 2.5/5.

Another viewer described Dacoit as a decent romantic action thriller that stays engaging for most of its runtime. They appreciated the music by Bheems Ceciroleo and the background score by Gyaani for adding intensity. While the story is not very new, they felt the screenplay and presentation keep the film interesting. The action scenes, interval, and climax were also praised, along with the chemistry between the lead actors.

A different review highlighted the strong first half and engaging screenplay. The second half maintains good pace, though the climax feels slightly predictable. The performances of the lead actors and the film’s technical quality were appreciated. However, the background music by Bheems was seen as a drawback in some parts. This reviewer rated the film 3.5/5.

One user called it an average action love story, saying that while it is technically strong, the screenplay is inconsistent. They mentioned that some scenes feel repetitive and remind them of earlier films like Kshanam and Goodachari. The twists were not very effective, and the climax was described as over the top.
