PTC News Desk: Renowned singer and actor Prashant Tamang, who became a national sensation after winning Indian Idol Season 3 in 2007, passed away on January 11, 2026, in New Delhi. He was 43. According to initial reports, he was found dead at his home, with a possible sudden heart attack suspected, though official confirmation is still awaited.


Tamang had recently returned to Delhi after performing live in Arunachal Pradesh and had not shown any major health issues, according to reports. His remarkable journey from serving as a constable in the Kolkata Police to becoming a beloved figure across South Asia inspired countless people. He had recently gained international recognition for his powerful role as Daniel Lecho in Paatal Lok Season 2, and songs like “Bir Gorkhali” and “Asare Mahinama” remain strong cultural favourites.
