The Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM), a front body of farmer unions, has appealed the citizens to observe ‘Bharat Bandh’ on Friday. March 26, 2021 remarks four months of farmers protesting against the three Farm bills announced by the Central Government.

The Bharat Bandh will begin at 6 am and end at 6 pm. During this period, there would be a complete closure of the markets, rail transport and other public places across the nation.

Earlier farmer leader Buta Singh Burjgill stated, “We will observe a complete Bharat bandh on March 26, when our protest against the three farm laws completes four months. The peaceful bandh will remain effective from morning till evening.”

Also, farmer leader Darshan Pal, said, “We appeal to the people of the country to make this Bharat Bandh a success and honour their 'Annadata'.”

In Andhra Pradesh, the ruling party YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) has also extended support to Bharat Bandh on March 26. The party will protest against the Centre's decision of privatizing the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant (VSP).

In this regard, Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy had sent letters to the Centre, suggesting alternatives to retain the organization. The Minister also appealed to the farmers' associations to assist and observe the ‘bandh’ peacefully without any unpleasant incidents that can affect the general public. In this context, all the government institutions in the state will be open after 1.00 pm and RTC buses will operate in the afternoon. During the bandh, all the emergency health services will run as usual.

However, the Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM) has clearly said that that, the states and union territories where Assembly Elections are going to take place will be exempted from ‘Bharat Bandh’ on 26 March.
