Fatehgarh Sahib Man gets death penalty by Supreme Court for murdering six members of family

The Supreme Court on Tuesday awarded death penalty to Khushwinder Singh (45), who had murdered 6 members of a family 7 years ago. The convict, Khushwinder Singh is a resident of Suhavi village in Fatehgarh Sahib district.

He murdered the close relatives of his wife Manjit Kaur by pushing them into a canal in 2012. He murdered his wife’s uncle and retired cop Gurmail Singh (70), Gurmail’s wife Paramjit Kaur (60), son Gurinder Singh (30), son-in-law Rupinder Singh, grandson Jaskirat Singh and granddaughter Prabhsimran Singh. One member of the family had survived. Her testimony helped the police to solve the murders.

Earlier, in June 2004, he murdered Kulwant Singh (45), wife Harjit Kaur (40), daughter Ramandeep Kaur (17) and son Arvinder Singh (14). The convict pushed them into the Sirhind canal.

In August 2018, the Punjab and Haryana High Court has sentenced him death penalty under Section 302 (murder) of the IPC. The judge also imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 on the convict.
