Virsa Singh Valtoha named SAD candidate for Punjab's Khadoor Sahib constituency

PTC News Desk: The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) has officially nominated Virsa Singh Valtoha, a core committee member of the party, as its candidate for the Khadoor Sahib Lok Sabha constituency in Punjab. This announcement marks the completion of the party's candidate selection process for all 13 seats in Punjab, as well as the lone Chandigarh seat.

In a statement, SAD President S. Sukhbir Singh Badal declared Virsa Singh Valtoha as the party's candidate for the Khadoor Sahib Lok Sabha constituency. Valtoha, a former chief parliamentary secretary and ex-MLA, is known for his outspoken and dynamic personality.


Amritpal Singh, the head of Waris Punjab De, currently imprisoned in Dibrugarh jail in Assam under the National Security Act, is contesting independently for the Khadoor Sahib seat.

Previously, the SAD announced candidates for various constituencies, including former Union minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal for Bathinda. The party introduced new faces like Mohinder Singh Kaypee for the Jalandhar reserve parliamentary constituency, Ranjit Singh Dhillon for Ludhiana, Sohan Singh Thandal for the Hoshiarpur reserve seat, and Nardev Singh Bobby Mann for Ferozepur. Additionally, Hardeep Singh Saini was named as the candidate for Chandigarh.

In the initial list, the party nominated Daljit Singh Cheema for Gurdaspur, former MP Prem Singh Chandumajra for Anandpur Sahib, and former Dera Bassi MLA NK Sharma for Patiala. Anil Joshi is the party's candidate for Amritsar, while Bikramjit Singh Khalsa will represent the party in Fatehgarh Sahib. Rajwinder Singh, the grandson of Gurdev Singh Badal, is contesting from Faridkot, and Iqbal Singh Jhoonda is the party's candidate for Sangrur.

The polling for the 13 Lok Sabha seats in Punjab and the lone Chandigarh seat is scheduled for the last phase on June 1.
