Ludhiana: YouTube channel faces FIR for allegedly spreading false and scandalous claims against AAP
PTC News Desk: An FIR has been lodged against a YouTube channel for disseminating false and scandalous statements regarding Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Rajya Sabha member Raghav Chadha. The complaint was filed by Vikas Parashar, the son of Ludhiana's AAP Lok Sabha candidate Ashok Parashar Pappi, who also serves as a legislator in the Ludhiana Central constituency.
The FIR, registered by the Shimlapuri police, cites violations under sections 153A, 469, and 505 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), along with section 66 of the Information Technology Act, pertaining to promoting enmity between groups, forgery to harm reputation, and disseminating misleading information via electronic means.
According to Vikas's complaint, several video clips uploaded by the YouTube channel "Capital TV," boasting over 26.7 lakh followers, contained false and defamatory content targeting Raghav Chadha and the AAP. Allegations within the viral videos included claims that Chadha had fled to England under the guise of receiving medical treatment for his eyes after allegedly contributing to drug addiction among state youths. Additionally, the videos purported that the AAP sold Lok Sabha tickets in exchange for money and falsely suggested Chadha's involvement with a UK Member of Parliament supportive of the "Khalistan movement" and engaged in fundraising activities for the cause.
This incident marks another instance of Ludhiana police taking action against content creators for inciting religious sentiments and fostering discord among communities.
Previously, on February 7, Salem Tabri police arrested content creator Rachit Kaushik from Uttar Pradesh for allegedly sharing videos disparaging Delhi Chief Minister and AAP convener Arvind Kejriwal.
