Former PM Rajiv Gandhi statue blackened in Ludhiana, Punjab Chief Minister orders inquiry

 

An hour after, local residents of Ludhiana blackened the statue of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi installed at Salem Tabri in Ludhiana, Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh ordered the Ludhiana police to inquire in the matter.

Capt Amarinder Singh flayed the act. He took to the micro blogging site twitter and tweeted: “Strongly condemn vandalisation of Rajiv Gandhi's statue in Ludhiana. Have asked Police to identify the guilty and  take strict action’

The development comes three days after Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leaders had demanded a special sitting of Punjab assembly for revocation of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi's Bharat Ratna award.

Meanwhile, on the other hand Congress Member of Parliament (MP) from Ludhiana Ravneet Singh Bittu and congress workers rushed to clean the Rajiv Gandhi’s statue with milk.
