India and China held high-level talks on Saturday at the Border Personnel Meeting Point in Maldo on the Chinese side of the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in Eastern Ladakh. The development comes amid the border stand-off between the two countries near eastern Ladakh.
The Indian delegation was led by Lieutenant General Harinder Singh, Commander of 14 Corps, while Commander of the Tibet Military District was leading the Chinese side.
Meanwhile, the Indian Army said in a statement that Indian and Chinese officials continue to remain engaged through the established military and diplomatic channels to address the current situation on the India-China border areas.

It also stated that any speculative and unsubstantiated reporting about these engagements would not be helpful and the media is advised to refrain from such reporting.
The current tensions between the two sides came into light when the reports of clashes between the soldiers of both sides were reported from the Pangong Lake region on May 5 and May 6.

The face-off was triggered by the China's stiff opposition to India laying a key road in the Finger area around the Pangong Tso Lake. The road in the Finger area in Pangong Tso is said to be crucial for India to carry out patrol.
