Jammu and Kashmir: One terrorist killed in Awantipora Encounter

Jammu and Kashmir, Awantipora Encounter: One terrorist was killed in an encounter between security forces and terrorists after exchange of fire broke out in Awantipora, Pulwama on Tuesday. Kashmir Zone Police took to twitter and wrote: "Awantipora encounter update: 1 terrorist killed. Arms & ammunition recovered."

Meanwhile, killed terrorist identified as Shahid, a resident of Bijbehara. As per police records, he is affiliated with proscribed terror outfit Hizbul Mujahideen.

Earlier, two Army soldiers were killed during an encounter with the militants in Naushera sector on the intervening night of December 31 and January 1. Those killed were identified as Naik Sawant Sandip Raghunath and Rifleman Arjun Thapa Magar.

The military and police have been conducting the search operation looking for three terrorists who entered the Line of Control (LoC).
