NIA court convicts five pro-Khalistan operatives for conspiring to assassinate former CM PS Badal

The Lucknow NIA Special court has convicted five Babbar Khalsa 2020 outfit workman charged under the (Prevention) Act (UAPA) and for plotting to kill former Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal in 2018. NIA secures conviction of five accused including Jarman Singh who was arrested by Patiala Police from Rajasthan. Mastermind Jarman Singh was arrested by the Patiala Police in a joint operation with the Rajasthan cops on October 18, last year, from Beechwal village on the outskirts of Bikaner.

Jarman Singh managed to reach one of the political rallies organized by the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) in Patiala in October last year. Four of them had attacked policemen and looted two service rifles in Shamli to use the weapon to attack Parkash Singh Badal. However, the four accused were given the seven years imprisonment, while one of them was given the five-year imprisonment.
