Three CRPF soldiers killed, several injured as bus plunges into gorge in J&Ks Udhampur

PTC News Desk: At least three  Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel lost their lives and 12 others got injured after a CRPF vehicle met with an accident and fell into a gorge near Kandva in the Basantgarh area of Jammu and Kashmir’s Udhampur district.


Additional SP Udhampur, Sandeep Bhat, stated that police teams quickly reached the scene, initiated a rescue operation, and transported all injured personnel to a nearby hospital for medical care.


The accident involved a bunker vehicle carrying 23 CRPF personnel, which overturned around 10:30 am in the Kadwa area. The personnel were returning from an operation in Basant Garh. The vehicle was part of the 187 battalion.


Union Minister of State for Science and Technology and Udhampur MP Jitendra Singh called the news “disturbing” and said he had spoken to the Deputy Commissioner of Udhampur, Saloni Rai, who was personally monitoring the situation.


Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha also expressed grief. “Saddened by the loss of CRPF personnel due to an accident near Udhampur. We will never forget their exemplary service to the nation,” he wrote on X, offering condolences to the families and wishing the injured a speedy recovery.
