Air India flight from San Francisco to Delhi makes emergency landing in Mongolia after mid-air technical alert

PTC Web Desk: An Air India flight from San Francisco to Delhi, operating via Kolkata, was diverted to Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, on Sunday after the flight crew detected a suspected technical issue mid-air. The Boeing 777 aircraft, operating as flight AI174 on November 2, made a precautionary landing at Ulaanbaatar and landed safely, according to the airline. All passengers and crew members were reported to be safe.
The flight had departed from San Francisco at 2.47 pm IST and was originally scheduled to arrive in Delhi at 9.59 pm on Monday. “AI174 of November 2, operating from San Francisco to Delhi via Kolkata, made a precautionary landing at Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, after the flight crew suspected a technical issue en route. The aircraft landed safely and is undergoing the necessary checks,” an Air India spokesperson said.

The airline added that it is working closely with partners to provide assistance to passengers while arranging onward travel to Delhi at the earliest. “We regret the inconvenience caused due to the unforeseen situation. At Air India, the safety of passengers and crew remains our top priority,” the spokesperson added.
