Andhra Pradesh bus tragedy: 12 killed, several injured as bus collides with lorry, catches fire

PTC News Desk: At least twelve people killed and several others injured after a private bus they were travelling in collided with a tipper lorry and caught fire in Andhra Pradesh's Markapuram district early Thursday morning, police said.


"Nearly eight people were burnt alive, and about 18 injured persons have been rescued so far and shifted to hospital. Efforts are on to gather complete details of the incident," Markapuram Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Nagraju said.


The accident occurred around 6:00 am when the bus, belonging to Harikrishna Travels, was travelling from Nirmal in Telangana to Nellore.

According to the district police authorities, around 20 critically injured passengers were transported to nearby hospitals and are currently undergoing treatment. Officials have expresses concern that death toll could rise.
