Indian Railways announces revised ticket cancellation policies; know refund eligibility
PTC News Desk: The Indian Railways is mulling to roll our fresh norms in order to streamline operations, ticketing transparency and freight movement, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said on Tuesday.
The Railway Minister outlined five key reforms that will be introduced as as part of a broader plan to modernise the railway network and enhance passenger services.
Amongst the reforms is one major change linked with cancellations of tickets. Confirmed tickets cancelled before less than eights hours will not be subjected to a refund and will fall under no-refund window. The move is aimed at reducing last-minute cancellations and improve seat availability for other passengers.

Ashwini Vaishnaw also announced that passengers will now be able to upgrade their travel class and alter boarding point up to 30 minutes prior to departure.
