Bengaluru woman confesses to killing husband, five-year-old son with lovers help
The couple, who married in 2021, had allegedly been facing marital problems for several years and had been sleeping in separate rooms for around two years.
PTC News Desk: A Bengaluru woman and her lover have been arrested for the alleged murders of her husband and five-year-old son. Police said the killings were planned in advance and were carried out after the victims went to sleep.
According to investigators, Abhinandan, 38, and his son were watching Bigg Boss on television, while his wife, Harini, was allegedly planning the murders. Police believe Harini and her boyfriend, Vinay, wanted to kill Abhinandan because they felt he was coming in the way of their relationship.
Harini had reportedly been asking her husband for a divorce and wanted to live with Vinay. The couple, who married in 2021, had allegedly been facing marital problems for several years and had been sleeping in separate rooms for around two years.
Police said Harini and Vinay met on Snapchat in December 2024 and later began a relationship. Abhinandan reportedly became suspicious that his wife was speaking to another man and had approached the police around 15 days before the murders to seek her call records. The couple had allegedly been arguing frequently over the issue.
Investigators believe the final plan to kill Abhinandan was made after another argument between the couple on August 14, two days before the killings.
Police said Vinay allegedly arrived at the house at around 11 pm and was hidden near the garage before being brought inside. After Abhinandan went to sleep, Harini allegedly checked several times to make sure he was asleep.
At around 12.30 am, Harini and Vinay allegedly put on gloves and went to Abhinandan's room. Police allege that Vinay strangled Abhinandan while Harini held his legs. During the attack, the couple's five-year-old son reportedly woke up after hearing the noise.
“During the altercation, the child woke up. Therefore, she has also confessed to killing the child. We have already taken Vinay Kumar into custody and are questioning him. He has also admitted his involvement in the incident,” DCP Nagesh said.
Harini was initially detained for questioning and was reportedly reluctant to answer questions. During interrogation, police said she disclosed Vinay's role and the murder plot.
Police had initially suspected foul play after noticing injuries on Abhinandan's body.
