BJP organisational reshuffle: Manpreet Badal appointed Punjabs national vice-president, Tarun Chugh assumes central office in-charge role

PTC News Desk: In a significant organisational reshuffle, the BJP on Monday announced its fresh team under its national chief Nitin Nabin ahead of elections in many states. 

The party aims at strengthening regional representation by introducing mix of seasoned leaders and younger faces taking charge of key posts.

The list includes prominent leaders as Manpreet Singh Badal, Smriti Irani and Vasundhara Raje, bringing together senior politicians with experience across different states and organisational roles.

Former Punjab Finance Minister Manpreet Singh Badal has been appointed national vice president of Punjab, while Tarun Chugh will assumed central office incharge's role.

While congratulating the newsly appointed office-bearers, Nitin Nabin said that the team's energy and experience would provide a new momentum to the organisation. 

Wider women representation

Meanwhile, another major development is the return of former Union minister Smriti Irani as one of the general secretaries of the BJP. Former Rajasthan chief minister Vasundhara Raje continues as BJP's national vice president.

Out of 13 national vice presidents, six are women, signalling a push for wider women representation in the party's core roles. There are also four women secretaries and a woman general secretary, apart from two from the Muslim community.

Union minister Piyush Goyal has been appointed the BJP’s national treasurer, with Rajesh Mangal named national joint treasurer.

The party also announced appointments to its organisational and outreach wings. Sambit Patra has been made the North-East coordinator, while Tarun Chugh has been appointed central office in-charge.
