Delhi CNG station blast: Three workers killed, as many injured in truck cylinder explosion

Three CNG pump workers were killed and three others seriously injured after a truck's CNG cylinder exploded while being filled at a fuel station near Tikri Kalan Metro Station in Delhi

Delhi CNG station blast:  Three persons were killed and three others seriously injured after a CNG cylinder of a truck exploded at a fuel station near Tikri Kalan Metro Station in Delhi on Wednesday afternoon.

All three persons who died in the incident were workers at the CNG station. The explosion took place while the truck was being refuelled. One of the deceased was identified as 25-year-old Manish, a resident of Baba Haridas Colony in West Delhi. The other two victims were identified as Brahmjeet, 34, and Sunny, 30, both residents of Nizampur.

According to the police, the three injured persons have been admitted to CD Global Hospital in Mundka. They have been identified as Surjeet, Sanjay and Vipin.

DCP Outer Delhi said the injured are in serious condition and are undergoing treatment at the hospital.

The police said Manish was filling the truck's CNG cylinder when the explosion occurred. He died at the spot, while Brahmjeet and Sunny later succumbed to their injuries at the hospital.


Police and fire teams reach spot

Following the explosion, large teams of police and fire personnel rushed to the fuel station. The police response included the DCP of Outer District, ACP and SHO of Mundka police station.

A fire service official said six persons who were in the vicinity at the time of the blast suffered injuries and were taken to a nearby hospital.

The Delhi Fire Service received an emergency call about the incident at around 3.37 pm. Six fire tenders were immediately sent to the location.

Cause of explosion under probe

The exact reason behind the CNG cylinder explosion has not yet been established. Authorities have started an investigation to determine what led to the blast.

The explosion caused panic in the surrounding area, while fire personnel carried out precautionary measures at the site. Officials said the situation is currently under control.

The police said necessary legal proceedings are being carried out, while further details about the condition of the injured are awaited.
