Professor escapes unhurt after car falls into open pit in Gurugram’s Sushant Lok
A woman professor narrowly escaped injury after her car plunged into an unmarked pit in Gurugram’s Sushant Lok area. The incident raises serious concerns over civic negligence and road safety
Gurgaon news: A woman professor had a close escape after her car fell into a deep, uncovered pit on a road in Gurugram’s Sushant Lok-1 area. The incident happened on Galleria Road on Monday evening when she was returning home from work.
According to eyewitnesses, the pit had been dug for construction work but was left open for several months without proper safety arrangements. With poor lighting and no warning signs in place, the professor could not see the pit in time and her car went straight into it.
Residents nearby rushed to help and pulled her out after some effort. She did not suffer any serious injuries, but her car was badly damaged in the accident.
Locals claimed that despite being a posh locality, there were no barricades or caution boards around the site. One resident said the pit had been lying open for a long time and the authorities had failed to take any action. They added that such negligence could have caused a much bigger accident.
The professor, who lives in Sushant Lok-1 and works as a Head of Department at a private university in Sector 55, said the incident left her shaken. She also mentioned that her car suffered heavy damage.
She now plans to lodge a complaint with the Gurugram Police, GMDA and the Municipal Corporation, demanding action against those responsible for the lapse.
