Haryana horror: Woman sexually assaulted in moving van, thrown out on deserted road in Faridabad; 2 detained
Police said a case has been registered based on the woman’s complaint, and both accused—residents of Faridabad—have been arrested.
PTC News Desk: Two men were detained on Tuesday for allegedly gang-raping a 25-year-old woman in Faridabad after offering her a lift in a van near Metro Chowk, police said.
What began as a late-night search for transport reportedly turned into a harrowing ordeal when the woman was allegedly sexually assaulted inside a moving van and later thrown onto the road by the accused, who then fled the scene.
Police said a case has been registered based on the woman’s complaint, and both accused—residents of Faridabad—have been arrested. According to the complaint, the woman lives separately with her husband and mother. On the evening of December 29, around 8.30 pm, she left home following an argument with her mother to meet a female friend.
Investigators said the woman had informed her sister over the phone that she was upset after the quarrel and was going to her friend’s place, assuring her she would return within three hours. At around 12.30 am, while heading back home, she reached Metro Chowk and began looking for a ride.
Her sister told police that while the woman was asking auto drivers for transport, an Eco van stopped and its occupants offered to drop her home. Trusting them, she got into the vehicle. However, instead of taking her home, the accused allegedly drove towards the Faridabad–Gurugram road and diverted the van to a secluded forested area, where the sexual assault took place.
“The woman has sustained injuries to her head and face. Medical treatment is underway and further investigation in the matter is continuing,” the official said.
