PTC Web Desk: The Himachal Pradesh Government has introduced a fresh set of guidelines aimed at promoting professionalism and discipline among its workforce. The new directives focus on maintaining appropriate office attire as well as regulating employees’ conduct on social media platforms.

As per the instructions, all government staff must report to work in formal, neat and modest clothing, preferably in subtle colours. Outfits considered casual or suited for parties have been clearly prohibited, both within office premises and during official appearances, including court duties.

The dress code outlines specific expectations for employees. Male staff are advised to wear shirts paired with trousers or pants, along with proper footwear such as shoes or sandals. Female employees have been directed to opt for sarees, formal suits, salwar-kameez, kurtas with dupattas, or formal shirts and trousers, complemented by appropriate footwear like sandals, chappals or shoes.

Notably, the government has barred attire such as jeans and T-shirts, stressing that clothing should reflect decency, discipline, and a professional image.

Alongside the dress regulations, the state administration has also issued strict social media guidelines. Employees have been cautioned against sharing personal opinions on government policies, schemes or administrative matters on their personal social media accounts. Additionally, posting or expressing political or religious views in public forums, including vlogs or online platforms, has been discouraged.

Officials have warned that failure to comply with these rules could lead to disciplinary action. The government stated that the initiative is aimed at preserving the dignity, neutrality, and credibility of public service while fostering a more professional working environment.
