Delhi judge dies by suicide at home, family claims he fought with wife hours ago
PTC News Desk: A 30-year-old judicial officer died by suicide at his residence in south Delhi, officials said on Saturday.
The deceased has been identified as Aman Kumar Sharma, who was serving as Secretary of the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) at Karkardooma Court in North-East Delhi.
Initial findings suggest death by suicide, reportedly by hanging. Police said no signs of foul play have emerged so far, though all angles are being examined.
Sharma joined the Delhi Judicial Services on June 19, 2021. He studied at Symbiosis Law School in Pune and completed his BA LLB in 2018.
During his career, he handled both criminal and civil cases and worked in different courts as a judicial magistrate first class and a civil judge. A relative, quoting his father, said Sharma called him around 10 pm the previous night and said he was very upset and finding it hard to live. His father, who was in Alwar, immediately left for Delhi and reached the house around midnight.
The family claims Sharma had been having problems with his wife for the past two months. They said his wife is also a judicial officer, and her sister is an IAS officer posted in Jammu.
According to the father, Sharma said he was being mentally harassed at home. He also allegedly said that his wife, Nidhi Malik, controlled everything in the house. The father added that there was noise and an argument going on—Sharma was in one room while his wife was in another.
A relative said, quoting the father, that the wife was speaking loudly while Sharma was crying.
Later, when Sharma could not be found, his phone was called and it was heard ringing from inside the bathroom.
