Himachal weather update: Himachal Pradesh is likely to experience flash floods in the next 24 hours as persistent rainfall continues across parts of the state. The Meteorological Centre has issued a flash flood warning for Shimla, Kullu, Mandi and Kinnaur districts, urging residents to remain cautious.

Flash flood risk in four districts

According to the Meteorological Centre, there is a low to moderate risk of flash floods in Shimla, Kullu, Mandi and Kinnaur, along with nearby areas, during the next 24 hours. The warning comes amid forecasts of continued rainfall that could lead to a sudden rise in water levels in vulnerable locations.

Authorities have advised people to stay away from rivers, streams, drains and other flood-prone areas. Residents have also been urged to avoid unnecessary travel to vulnerable locations until weather conditions improve.

Yellow alert issued for several areas

The weather department has also issued a yellow alert for Shimla, Solan, Bilaspur and Mandi districts for the day. These areas are expected to receive moderate to heavy rainfall at isolated places. Light rain is likely to continue across the remaining parts of Himachal Pradesh. Despite the wet weather, both minimum and maximum temperatures are expected to stay close to normal.

Dalhousie: 17.9°C

Kufri: 14.4°C

Kasauli: 19°C

Una: 22.3°C

Nahan: 21.3°C

Paonta Sahib: 26°C

Bharmour in Chamba district recorded the state's lowest minimum temperature at 13°C.

Residents advised to stay alert

With the possibility of flash floods over the next 24 hours, the weather department has appealed to residents to closely monitor weather updates and exercise caution, especially in areas vulnerable to flooding and landslides. People are advised not to venture near water bodies or other risky locations until the weather situation stabilises.
