Himachal weather: 60 roads are closed in Chamba, Kangra, Kullu and Lahaul Spiti ; three National Highways across the state also blocked

Himachal weather: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for certain areas in Himachal Pradesh due to adverse weather conditions. 

Heavy snowfall in Himachal Pradesh has resulted in the blockage of approximately 60 roads, three National Highways across the state following recent snowfall in the region

As per the data from the State Emergency Operation Centre, 60 roads are closed in Chamba, Kangra, Kullu and Lahaul Spiti.


Earlier IMD stated, "Thunderstorms with lightning, hail, and strong winds (30-40kmph) are expected at isolated locations in Bilaspur, Chamba, Hamirpur, Kangra, Kullu, Mandi, Shimla, Sirmaur, Solan, and Una in Himachal Pradesh  during the next 48 hours."

IMD has also predicted widespread light to moderate rainfall/snowfall, accompanied by isolated thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds (40-50 kmph) over Arunachal Pradesh, with scattered to fairly widespread rainfall over Assam, Meghalaya, and Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura during April 26-30, 2024.

In light of these developments, residents and travelers are advised to exercise caution and stay updated on the status of road closures and snow-clearing efforts. It is crucial to prioritize safety and adhere to any advisories or instructions issued by local authorities during this period of inclement weather.
