Himachal Pradesh: Teacher arrested for allegedly molesting 24 girl students in Sirmaur school
PTC Web Desk: A government school teacher in Himachal Pradesh’s Sirmaur district has been arrested following grave allegations of sexual harassment made by 24 girl students. According to information, the accused was taken into custody after multiple students came forward with written complaints detailing repeated instances of inappropriate physical contact.
The incident came to light when students from Classes 8 to 10 submitted a collective complaint to the school principal on Friday, alleging that the teacher had touched them inappropriately on multiple occasions. Acting swiftly, the principal escalated the matter to the school’s internal anti-sexual harassment committee, and also informed the local police.
As part of the school’s protocol, a meeting with the parents of the affected students was held on Saturday. The authorities noted that most parents were unaware of the ongoing abuse their children had endured.
Following preliminary investigations, the police confirmed that the accused has been formally arrested. A case has been registered under Section 75 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (related to sexual harassment) along with relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
