PTC Web Desk: The Supreme Court on Thursday granted conditional permission to both Hindu and Muslim communities to carry out religious practices at the disputed Bhojshala–Kamal Maula Mosque complex in Dhar district of Madhya Pradesh on the occasion of Basant Panchami.

A three-judge Bench headed by Chief Justice of India Surya Kant allowed Hindus to perform special puja and rituals from sunrise to sunset on Friday, January 23, when Saraswati Puja is observed. At the same time, the court permitted Muslims to offer namaz at the ASI-protected site during a fixed window from 1 pm to 3 pm.

To ensure smooth coordination and law-and-order arrangements, the apex court directed that a list of Muslim worshippers intending to offer namaz be submitted in advance to the district administration.

Both Hindu and Muslim organisations had approached the court seeking permission for religious observances at the Bhojshala complex, citing the significance of Basant Panchami, which this year coincides with Friday.
