Kanpur Lamborghini rampage: Tobacco baron defends son, claims car malfunctioned

PTC News Desk: Kanpur-based tobacco businessman KK Mishra has rejected claims that his son Shivam was driving the Lamborghini involved in a recent crash. He asserted that the luxury car was being driven by a hired driver when it reportedly developed a fault, leading to the accident that left a pedestrian injured and damaged several vehicles.

Speaking to the media, Mishra said the vehicle was being driven by a man named Mohan, while Shivam was sitting inside. He claimed that during the journey, Shivam suddenly felt unwell, after which one of the bouncers travelling with them broke open the driver-side door and pulled him out. Mishra described the situation as extremely stressful, saying the family was facing pressure from both the police investigation and his son’s poor health, along with damage to the car. He maintained that Shivam had stepped out only to inspect the vehicle with the driver and was not behind the wheel.

“My son’s condition deteriorated rapidly. He was unconscious by the time he reached home. We immediately sent him to Delhi, where he is currently undergoing treatment under medical supervision,” KK Mishra said.

“Whatever the law requires, we will comply. We will appear whenever we are called. We have done nothing illegal,” he said.

KK Mishra insisted that neither he nor his family had done anything wrong and assured that they would cooperate with authorities. His lawyer, Dharmendra Singh Dharam, alleged discrepancies in the police account of the incident. He claimed that Taufiq Ahmed, the injured man who was asked to lodge the complaint, later informed the court that no proper inquiry had been conducted before his statement was recorded.

Shivam Mishra’s lawyer, Mrityunjay Mishra, also supported the family’s version, reiterating that the Lamborghini was being driven by a hired chauffeur and not by Shivam.
