Maharashtra TET 2026 exam:  The Maharashtra TET 2026 exam postponed announcement was made just a day before the examination after a suspected question paper leak came to light in Bhiwandi, Thane district, Maharashtra. The Teacher Eligibility Test (TET), which was scheduled to be held on Sunday, has now been deferred until further notice.

The Maharashtra TET 2026 exam postponed decision followed a police raid in Bhiwandi, where officials allegedly recovered several questions that matched the actual examination paper. The Maharashtra State Council of Examination (MSCE) said the move was necessary to protect the integrity and transparency of the examination process.

The Maharashtra TET 2026 exam postponed decision affects nearly six lakh candidates who were expected to appear for the examination at 1,728 centres across 37 locations in the state.

Police register FIR against three accused

According to officials, the suspected leak was detected early Saturday morning after the Bhiwandi police received confidential information about individuals possessing unauthorised examination material.

A raid was carried out and senior MSCE officials were called to verify the seized documents. During verification, several questions were found to match the actual TET 2026 question paper.

The police have registered an FIR against three individuals and launched a detailed investigation into the alleged paper leak.

MSCE says transparency is top priority

In an official statement, the Maharashtra State Council of Examination said it follows a zero-tolerance policy towards examination malpractice. The council said postponing the examination was essential to allow law enforcement agencies to conduct a thorough investigation without compromising the credibility of the recruitment process.

The MSCE also appealed to candidates not to believe rumours and said fresh examination dates will be announced soon through its official website.

No re-registration required for candidates

MSCE Deputy Commissioner Priya Shinde said candidates who had already registered for the examination will not have to submit fresh applications. She added that no re-registration fee will be charged as candidates are not responsible for the postponement.

The police are continuing their investigation to determine how the suspected examination material reached the accused and whether a larger racket was involved.

Authorities have assured candidates that strict action will be taken against anyone found responsible for compromising the examination process, while revised dates for the Maharashtra TET 2026 examination will be announced after the investigation progresses.
