NEET topper with 99.99 percentile dies by suicide in Maharashtra, note says he didnt want to become doctor

Following his success, he was being prepared to travel to Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh, for admission to an MBBS course.

PTC News Desk: A 19-year-old student and NEET topper from Maharashtra's Chandrapur district died by suicide on the day he was supposed to get admission to medical college. A suicide note was also recovered stating that he did not want to become a doctor. 


The deceased has been identified as Anurag Anil Borkar, resident of Nawargaon in Sindewahi taluka, who lived with his family and had recently cleared the NEET UG 2025 examination with a 99.99 percentile and secured an All India Rank of 1475 in the OBC category. 


Following his success, he was being prepared to travel to Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh, for admission to an MBBS course. 


The case is currently under investigation by the Navargaon Police. 


According to the police, Anurag was found hanging at his residence moments before he was being prepred to travel to Gorakhpur in Uttar Pradesh for admission to medical college. The suice note recovered stating that he did not want to pursue in medical field has added another layer of sorrow to the incident, underscoring significant difference between choosing external achievement and internal desire. 


As the investigation continues, the family and community are left to grapple with the loss of a promising young life.
