One dead, over 30 hurt as Mahindra Pickup overturns near Panchkula; pilgrims were returning from Mansa Devi Temple

PTC Web Desk: A tragic accident occurred late last night when a Mahindra pickup carrying over 35 devotees returning from Mata Mansa Devi temple lost control and overturned near Old Panchkula. The mishap left one person dead on the spot and more than 30 others injured.
The deceased has been identified as Raj (18), a resident of Zirakpur’s Bhagat village, who ran a ready-made garments shop. Among the injured, a youth named Gaurav sustained a severe hand injury after it was trapped under the vehicle.
The injured were rushed to Panchkula Sector-6 Hospital. Several patients were later referred to PGIMER, Chandigarh, and Government Medical College and Hospital, Sector-32. As per information, three patients, an unidentified man (40), Amit (17), and Gaurav (11), were shifted to PGIMER, while Shyam Sundar (32), Vijay (20), Rishu (12), and Prince (18) were admitted to Sector-32 Hospital.
Others receiving treatment at Sector-6 Hospital include Kajal (20), Renu Devi (20), Kanwar Pal (28), Ankush (15), Nirdosh Kumar (45), Dharminder (35), Nitish (18), Ramkrishan (24), Aman Kumar (9), Darshan (11), Shivam (22), Ritik Singh (8), Kamra Singh (38), Rekha Singh (40), Umesh (50), Pintu (27), Amrit (15), among others.
The devotees, all from Zirakpur’s Bhagat village, were returning after offering prayers at the Mansa Devi shrine. The accident occurred when the driver lost control of the vehicle while negotiating a turn.
Police and administrative officials arrived at the spot immediately after receiving the information.
