The Anti-Gangster Task Force of the Punjab Police carried out an encounter operation in Amloh, Fatehgarh Sahib, Punjab, and arrested the accused shooters
PTC Web Desk: In a significant breakthrough in Chandigarh's Panjab University firing case, the Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF), Punjab, in a joint operation with the Chandigarh Police, has apprehended the main accused, Jaspreet Singh alias Jas, following an encounter in Fatehgarh Sahib district.
The arrest was made on the Amloh–Patran road, where police teams tracked down the accused. During the operation, a brief exchange of fire took place, in which the accused sustained injuries. He was immediately shifted to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.
The development comes in connection with the March 17 firing incident at Panjab University, Chandigarh, where student leader Jashanpreet Singh Jawanda, a former SOPU president, was targeted.
According to preliminary investigations, the attack was allegedly carried out at the behest of the Doni Bal/Bambiha gang, indicating possible links to organised gangster networks operating in the region.
Earlier, AGTF had also conducted an operation in Noorpura village of Amloh, where other suspects linked to the case were traced and weapons were recovered.
Police officials said further investigation is underway to establish both backward and forward linkages in the case, including identifying other members involved in planning and execution of the attack.
