India petrol diesel LPG stock update: No fuel shortage, 60 days supply available; govt denies panic buying rumours amid Middle East tensions
Petrol, diesel and LPG India stock: Amid reports of chaos in some parts of the country, the government on Thursday reiterated its stance that there was no dearth of petrol, diesel or LPG in the country. Currently, India has enough fuel stock to meet demand for nearly 60 days, claims the Central Government.
While rejecting reports of shortages, the government said there was a deliberate attempt to spread misinformation so that there is a state of panic buying among people.
In a statement, the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas said all fuel stations across the country had adequate supplies and are working without any problem. The govt also clarified that there is no rationing of petrol or diesel, as of now as being speculated.
The ministry added that India is the world’s fourth-largest refiner and the fifth-largest exporter of petroleum products. The nation continues to send refined fuel to more than 150 countries. Also, all Indian refineries are running at more than full capacity.
The statement further added that crude oil supplies for the next 60 days were already available with oil companies, and there is no need to panic .
The government further said the total storage capacity of India is about 74 days for crude oil and fuel. Currently, the available stock is enough for around 60 days, including crude oil, refined products, and strategic reserves.
The government said LPG supply remains stable amid increased domestic production and reduced dependence on imports. Additional shipments from multiple countries have also been arranged.
The government said they were keeping tabs on false information about fuel shortages and emergency measures on social media. It added that strict action will be taken against those responsible.
