Pralhad Joshi gets additional charge of Education Ministry after Dharmendra Pradhans exit
Apart from the Education Ministry, Joshi will continue to serve as the Union Minister of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution and Minister of New and Renewable Energy.
PTC News Desk: Union Minister Pralhad Joshi has been given additional charge of the Ministry of Education after President Droupadi Murmu accepted Dharmendra Pradhan's resignation with immediate effect.
According to an official statement from Rashtrapati Bhavan, the President accepted Pradhan's resignation on the advice of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. She also approved the Prime Minister's recommendation to hand over the Education Ministry to Pralhad Joshi, who will continue to manage his current ministries as well.
Pradhan stepped down amid nationwide student protests over the NEET paper leak. He said he resigned in the interest of students and to ensure that the protests over examination irregularities were not misused by "anti-national forces."
Apart from the Education Ministry, Joshi will continue to serve as the Union Minister of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution and Minister of New and Renewable Energy. He is the Lok Sabha MP from Dharwad, Karnataka, and also serves as the President of the International Solar Alliance. Earlier, he held key portfolios such as Coal, Mines, and Parliamentary Affairs.
