SIR deadline extended by seven days in all states, draft electoral list to roll out on December 16

PTC News Desk: The Election Commission of India has extended the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter lists by one more week in 12 States and Union Territories. This gives people extra time to check and correct their names in the voter list before the upcoming elections.
The revision now applies to: Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Chhattisgarh, Goa, Gujarat, Kerala, Lakshadweep, Madhya Pradesh, Puducherry, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, and West Bengal. This new order replaces the earlier schedule.

Enumeration work will now continue until 11 December 2025
Polling stations rearrangement also by 11 December 2025
Control table updates and draft roll preparation: 12–15 December 2025
Draft voter list publication: 16 December 2025
Claims and objections period: 16 December 2025 to 15 January 2026
Notice and verification process: 16 December 2025 to 7 February 2026, during which Election Returning Officers will handle objections and form submissions
