PTC News DeskFlight operations at several airports inlcuding Delhi and Mumbai were affected on Thursday after a technical glitch in Navitaire, a system used by airlines for bookings and check-ins, and affected hundreds of passengers.

The fault surfaced aroung 6:45 am at Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi.

During the disruption, airlines had to handle passenger information manually, which led to long queues during the early morning rush. Several airlines were affected, including IndiGo, Akasa Air and Air India Express. IndiGo managed to restore its systems in about 25 minutes.

The Navitaire system, which supports airline reservations, check-in and boarding, was fully restored after nearly two hours, around 8:25 am, according to sources. When such systems fail, airlines struggle to process passengers smoothly, often causing delays and crowding.

The incident brought back memories of a major disruption in November last year, when a technical issue in the Air Traffic Control system at Indira Gandhi International Airport delayed more than 800 flights.

Delhi airport, the busiest in India, handles over 1,500 flight movements every day, while Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport in Mumbai manages around 1,000 daily flights.
