Tennis player murder: Court remands Radhika Yadavs father to one-day police custody
While financial independence and her father Deepak Yadav's defiance over her academy remains the potential reason of conflict, the Gurugram police have said that Radhika's appearance in a music video may have aggravated the tensions.
PTC News Desk: A local court in Gurugram on Friday sent Deepak Yadav, accused of killing his 25-year-old daughter Radhika Yadav, a former national-level tennis player, to one-day police custody.
The court termed the case a “serious matter” requiring an in-depth investigation.
SHO Vinod Kumar said: "We have already told you about the motive... he was angry over the tennis academy (run by her daughter Radhika Yadav). No... nothing like that (when asked whether there was honour killing angle). We had asked for two-day remand."
The tragic incident unfolded on Thursday at their residence in Sector 57 Sushant Lok where Deepak allegedly fired five rounds of fire targeting her daughter while she was cooking. Three of the bullets hit her in the back resulting in her death.
While financial independence and her father Deepak Yadav's defiance over her academy remains the potential reason of conflict, the Gurugram police have said that Radhika's appearance in a music video may have aggravated the tensions.
Radhika's father Deepak had been pressurising her to shut down the academy, but she refused and continued to give tennis coaching.
Notably Radhika's mother, Manju Yadav who has refused to record official statement has maintained that she had no idea why Deepak committed the murder. The same day Radhika Yadav was murdered by her father Deepak Yadav, July 10 was also her mother Manju Yadav’s birthday. That morning, Radhika had gone into the kitchen to prepare something special for her mother when Deepak shot her three times.
