PTC Web Desk: On the occasion of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 75th birthday today (September 17), a new biopic titled 'Maa Vande' was officially announced. The film will bring to the big screen the extraordinary journey of Narendra Modi, with popular Malayalam actor Unni Mukundan stepping into the lead role.

Unni Mukundan, who has steadily built a name for himself in Malayalam cinema, recently drew attention with his performance in Marco. The actor, born in Thrissur, Kerala, on September 22, 1987, pursued his graduation in English Literature and Journalism at Prajyoti Niketan College, Pudukad, before entering the film industry.

He began his acting journey in 2011 with the Tamil film 'Seedan', featuring Dhanush. The movie was a remake of the 2002 Malayalam film 'Nandanam'. Mukundan soon entered the Malayalam industry with Bombay March 12, alongside Mammootty—a role that earned him several debut awards. His big breakthrough came in 2012 with Mallu Singh, which made him a household name and opened doors to lead roles in films like Ezham Suryan, I Love Me, and Ithu Pathiramanal.

Expanding his career beyond Mollywood, Mukundan ventured into Tollywood with Janatha Garage in 2016, one of the highest-grossing Telugu films of its time. He later starred opposite Anushka Shetty in Bhaagamathie, further consolidating his presence in the South Indian film industry. His 2022 release, Malikappuram, won both critical acclaim and commercial success, establishing him as a bankable Malayalam star.

In 2024, he headlined Marco, a violent action thriller directed by Haneef Adeni. Despite controversies surrounding the film’s extreme portrayal of violence, it turned into a box office sensation, crossing Rs 100 crore. Mukundan, however, chose not to participate in the sequel, citing the “negativity” around the project. Reflecting on its success, he noted how the film expanded into the Hindi market with remarkable momentum, proving the strength of content over face value.

Now, Mukundan takes on one of the most significant roles of his career—portraying Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Maa Vande. Announcing the project on X (formerly Twitter), the actor wrote: “A man’s story that rises beyond battles… to become a revolution for the ages. #MaaVande it is. Wishing the Honourable Prime Minister @Narendramodi Ji a very Happy Birthday. May glory be revived and brighter things await.”

The biopic will be written and directed by Kranthi Kumar CH, with Veer Reddy M producing under the banner of Silver Cast Creations.
