UP Horror:  In another horrific case of honour killing from Uttar Pradesh, a 16-year-old girl was killed by her father and acid was poured over her face to conceal her identity and her body was dumped on the roadside all because she refused to severe ties with her boyfriend.

The girl's relationship allegedly brought shame to the family, which drove her father to kill her.

The victim, Vandana eloped with her boyfriend in August last year. While the girl was brought back home, the boy was sent to jail for three months. Vandana, however, continued to stay in touch with her lover after he was released from jail in November.

Despite being compelled repeatedly, Vandana refused to end her relationship with the boy.

Driven by frustration,  her father Vijay Kumar Chaubey made a plan with his friend Abdul Mannan. On April 13, they rented a car, saying they would take the girl to Rajasthan for a ritual meant to cure her. By night, they reached Barabanki and stopped at a lonely stretch of road. While she was asleep, they strangled her and then poured acid on her face to hide her identity. They planned to throw the body into the Sharda canal, but when they saw vehicles coming, they got scared, left the body there, and ran away.

On April 16, Chaubey filed a missing complaint through the Integrated Grievance Redressal System (IGRS), claiming his teenage daughter had disappeared.

During the investigation, police checked call records and questioned people, which revealed the truth. It came out that Chaubey himself had planned and carried out the murder. He later confessed, saying he did it out of fear of social shame.

Police have arrested Chaubey, 34, and his accomplice Abdul Mannan, 45. Further legal action is in progress.
