PTC News Desk: Family members and friends of 25-year-old Kamal Dhyani have blamed authorities for carelessness and delay after he died when his motorcycle reportedly fell into a deep construction pit in Janakpuri, west Delhi.

Kamal, who was only a few minutes away from home on Thursday night, was later found dead inside a 15-foot-deep pit after his friends searched for him throughout the night.

One of his friends said they spoke to him at 11:53 pm, when he told them he had reached the District Centre and would be home soon. When he did not reach home, worry soon turned into panic.

‘He was just 15 minutes away from home’

Kamal had spoken to one of his close friends shortly before midnight.

“My last conversation with him was when he reached the District Centre. He said he would reach home in 15 minutes. We waited for an hour, but he never arrived,” the friend said.

That was the last time his friend heard from him.

While the police and Delhi Jal Board say the matter is under investigation, Kamal’s family claims that valuable time was wasted during the night when they were searching for him. According to them, Kamal was returning home from his workplace in Rohini when he last spoke to them.

Relatives claimed they went to multiple police stations through the night, seeking help to trace his phone.

“When we went to the Janakpuri Police Station to file a complaint, they said it could only be registered after 24 hours. We requested the police to trace his phone while it was still ringing. They found the location and sent it to us, but then deleted it. When we went back, they said they couldn’t give us the location again as it is confidential," the brother alleged.
