National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) on Friday took suo motu cognizance of media reports about the death of more than 100 children at a government run hospital in Kota district of Rajasthan in the month of December, 2019.

The Commission has issued a notice to Chief Secretary, Government of Rajasthan, to submit a detailed report, within 4 weeks in the matter including the steps being taken to address the issue, and to ensure that such deaths of the children do not recur in future.

Meanwhile, the official handle of Yogi Adityanath office wrote: "The death of around 100 innocent people in Kota is very sad and heart-wrenching. Raising the lap of mothers is a stain on civilized society, human values and sensibilities. It is extremely upset that Congress President Sonia Gandhi, Congress General Secretary Priyanka Vadra, despite being a woman, could not understand the grief of mothers."

Today I have spoken to the Union Health Minister, I have told himto visit himself, and you are a minister, you will understand what the situation is."
