Pakistan using diplomatic missions to push fake Indian currency

A few years after demonetization, India has accused Pakistan of misusing diplomatic channels in Nepal, Bangladesh, and other countries to distribute consignments of fake Indian currency notes (FICN), the report said. As per senior officials, Pakistan is producing, smuggling and circulating fake notes of good quality to finance illegal activities and terror groups, including Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammed.

Sources said Pakistan is using its pre-2016 network to push a large cache of fake currency into India. As per the report, Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) has been successful in producing illicit currency notes with better visual quality as compared to the previous version of photocopied currency notes.

Punjab Police seized FICN worth Rs 1 million from Sikh fundamentalist elements of the revived Khalistan Zindabad Force (KZF). Recoveries also included AK-47 Rifles, 30 bore pistols, nine hand grenades, five satellite phones, two mobile phones, and two wireless sets dropped through a heavy lifting drone of Chinese make.
