Coronavirus: Entire population under Patiala MC to be screened

A day after the third coronavirus positive came reported from Patiala, the district administration has ordered the screening of the entire population living within the Patiala municipal corporation (MC). The District Magistrate cum Deputy Commissioner Kumar Amit has directed the civil surgeon to conduct the screening of all the citizens of the Patiala Municipal area. Meanwhile, the DM has also asked to conduct screening of colonies including Urban Estate adjacent to MC limit. Likewise, the DM has also imposed a complete ban on the distribution of langar (food through community kitchen) in the Patiala district with immediate effect. The latest case, a 50-year-old resident of Safabadi Gate, who tested positive on Tuesday, was part of the groups involved in distributing langar among the needy. Hence, the health department has quarantined his 9 primary contacts and taken their samples for testing. In an order to avoid the further spread of the infection, we have decided to screen the entire population under MC limit." Rapid testing for coronavirus in Mohali and Jalandhar

Punjab Government launched Rapid Testing facility from two districts — Jalandhar and Mohali — with the aim of covering all the 17 hotspots in a phased manner. It has been launched by Punjab's Health and Family Welfare Minister Balbir Singh Sidhu at SDH Derabassi, with the commencement of sampling. -PTC News
