AAP's U-Turn? Party attacks it MP Swati Maliwal after video from day of alleged assault surfaces, says ' Swati Maliwal ka Sach...'

PTC Web Desk: In a surprising turn of events, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has launched an attack on its own Rajya Sabha MP, Swati Maliwal, following the emergence of a purported video clip from the day of the alleged assault at the residence of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.

The AAP took to social media to post a cryptic message titled "Swati Maliwal ka Sach (Swati Maliwal's truth)," alongside a news story featuring the said video clip. However, the authenticity of the video is yet to be verified by the Delhi Police.

This move marks a significant departure from AAP's previous stance of solidarity with Swati Maliwal, as AAP MP Sanjay Singh had earlier affirmed the party's support for her, stating that Kejriwal had taken note of the incident and directed strict action.

In response to the video, Swati Maliwal accused an unnamed individual of orchestrating a smear campaign against her, describing them a "political hitman." She expressed confidence that the truth would be revealed once the CCTV footage from the house and room in question is scrutinised.

The Delhi Police filed an FIR based on Swati Maliwal's complaint, which contains harrowing details of the alleged assault. She recounted the events of May 13, describing how she attempted to meet Kejriwal's personal Secretary, Bibhav Kumar, at his Civil Lines residence.

Upon being unable to locate Bibhav Kumar, Swati Maliwal proceeded to the residential area and informed the staff of her presence. She was instructed to wait in the drawing room, where she awaited Kumar's arrival.

However, instead of a meeting, Swati Maliwal alleges that Bibhav Kumar verbally abused her and proceeded to physically assault her without provocation. She claimed to have been slapped multiple times, screamed for help, and pushed Kumar away in self-defense.

Despite pleading for mercy due to unbearable pain, the Rajya Sabha MP alleged that Kumar continued his assault. She managed to free herself, gather her fallen spectacles, and report the incident to the authorities.

The FIR has been lodged under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), including attempt to commit culpable homicide, assault or use of criminal force against a woman with intent to disrobe, criminal intimidation, and insult to the modesty of a woman.
