Four-year-old boy's body found in drain at Patna school; family sets premises on fire

PTC Web Desk: In a heartbreaking incident, the body of a four-year-old boy, who had gone missing from his school premises on Thursday, was found inside the school in Bihar’s Digha area in Patna on Friday. The discovery of the boy’s body triggered a wave of anger and grief among parents and local residents, leading to significant public unrest. They also set the school premises on fire.

The boy’s body was found inside a drain within the school grounds. The tragic discovery prompted enraged parents and locals to block major roads, including Digha-Patna and Digha-Ashiana roads, severely disrupting traffic. Protesters burnt tyres, vandalised the school premises and set it afire.

Patna SP Chandra Prakash said, "In the CCTV footage, we saw that the child entered the school, but there is no footage showing him leaving the premises. We are treating this as a murder case because the concealment of the body indicates criminal intent. We have detained three persons, and the inquiry is ongoing."

The boy's family strongly suspects a foul play, suggesting that enmity with their family might have led to the child's murder. The child's father recounted that his son, who attended both school and tuition classes on the school premises, left home for school at 6 am but did not return home by 5 pm, prompting immediate concern.

The authorities are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the boy's death.
