Bihar political turmoil: Amid the ongoing political turmoil, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has sought time to meet the Governor on Sunday say sources.

According to sources, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has requested a meeting with the Governor this morning and is expected to break away from the Mahagathbandhan government.

Although the Bihar Chief Minister has not revealed his next move, speculation about a divide between the Mahagathbandhan and JD(U) leader Nitish Kumar joining the NDA has been rampant.

Notably, the Bhartiya Janata Party will hold a meeting with its MLAs and MPs in Patna at 9 a.m. today to strategize about the state's current political situation.

The ruling JD(U)-RJD-Congress coalition in Bihar is on the verge of collapse, with Chief Minister Nitish Kumar considering rejoining the NDA, from which he split in 2022 to form the'mahagathbandhan'.

The BJP has the most MPs (17) in Bihar, which has a total of 40 Lok Sabha members. The JD(U), led by Nitish Kumar, has 16 seats, while another NDA ally, LJP, which is now split between the uncle-nephew duo of Pashupati Kumar Paras and Chirag Paswan, has six.

In Bihar's 243-member Assembly, the RJD has 79 MLAs, followed by the BJP with 78, the JD(U) with 45, the Congress with 19, the CPI (M-L) with 12, two each of the CPI(M) and CPI, the Hindustani Awam Morcha (Secular) with four seats, and the AIMIM with one, plus one Independent legislator.
