PTC Web Desk: Scientist and climate activist Sonam Wangchuk has praised the Vande Bharat Express and the Chenab Rail Bridge after travelling from Delhi to Jammu and Kashmir, while also urging the Central Government to honour its written assurance of not taking legal action against students who participated in protests over the examination paper leak issue.

Wangchuk enjoys Vande Bharat journey

After recently ending his hunger strike in Delhi and receiving medical treatment, Wangchuk travelled aboard the Vande Bharat Express before returning to his home in Ladakh.

Sharing a video on social media platform X, he said rail travel has always been his favourite mode of transport and described crossing the Chenab Rail Bridge as a memorable experience.

He praised the engineering achievement of the bridge and expressed pride in Indian Railways.

Praise for India's Railway infrastructure

In the video, Wangchuk said he had specifically wanted to experience the Chenab Bridge and called the journey beautiful. He said the bridge is a remarkable engineering accomplishment and added that he feels proud of the progress made by Indian Railways.

Appeal to govt on student protesters

Along with appreciating the country's railway infrastructure, Sonam Wangchuk urged the government to fulfil the assurance it had given regarding students who participated in protests over the examination paper leak controversy.

He appealed to the authorities not to file FIRs against students who joined demonstrations at Delhi's Jantar Mantar and requested the government to honour its written commitment.

According to Wangchuk, respecting that assurance would help build trust, particularly among the country's youth.

Wangchuk also welcomed the introduction of legislation aimed at preventing unfair practices in public examinations. He said he was pleased that Parliament had introduced a Bill to strengthen the examination system and expressed hope that similar reforms would be implemented across the entire education sector, not just in examinations.

Concluding his message, Wangchuk urged all stakeholders to work together for the country's progress and called for efforts to make India stronger through trust and meaningful reforms.
