Yogi cancels leave of all UP govt employees ahead of Diwali, orders high alert across state
PTC Web Desk: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has called off leave for government officials and employees as the festive season approaches. He asked authorities to stay alert and tighten security across the state, adding that leave will be granted only in genuine emergencies.
Chairing a review meeting in Lucknow on preparations for Deepotsav, Diwali, Chhath and Dev Deepawali, he said security and communal harmony must come first. He warned that no one would be allowed to turn the festive mood into one of tension and told the administration to show no leniency toward anti-social elements or anyone trying to disturb law and order.

On security, the CM asked the police to keep markets under round-the-clock watch and to deploy enough personnel at major temples and sensitive religious places. Social media is to be monitored continuously, with strict action against those spreading rumours or trying to stir up communal tension.
On fire safety, he said firecrackers should be sold only at open, designated and safe locations. The Fire Department has been told to stay ready for any emergency during the celebrations.
Besides security, Adityanath stressed that essential services must run smoothly through the festivals. Officials were told to ensure steady electricity and water supply, proper cleanliness and adequate street lighting.
The CM also turned to farmers’ concerns. He ordered strict action against the black marketing of fertilisers and against negligence in paddy procurement, saying farmers should not struggle to get fertiliser or sell their crop. Officials responsible for lapses that trouble farmers will face action, he said.
He also asked for exemplary punishment for those found guilty of irregularities in ration distribution, especially giving short weight, so that it acts as a warning to others.
In addition, he directed that outsourced employees and anganwadi workers receive their honorarium before the festivals begin.
Repeating his no-tolerance stand on disturbances, Adityanath said festivals must be celebrated in an atmosphere of joy, peace and harmony. Anyone who takes the law into their own hands or disrupts public order will not be spared, he said, and officials must remain vigilant throughout the festive period.
