PTC Web Desk: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for thunderstorms and rain across various districts of Punjab, with heavy winds and lightning expected to persist until May 8. The weather changes are attributed to an active western disturbance affecting the northern region.

Overcast conditions persisted throughout Sunday in many districts. According to the IMD Chandigarh centre, strong winds ranging from 40 to 60 km/h, thunderstorms, and lightning are likely in the coming days.
