Chandigarh, September 26: In a significant move to combat criminal activity and anti-national elements, the Punjab Police executed a series of coordinated raids on Monday, targeting suspected hideouts and associates of gangsters across the state. This operation was carried out under the direct instructions of Punjab's Director General of Police (DGP), Gaurav Yadav.

The simultaneous raids covered a total of 264 residential and other locations connected to close associates of various gangsters. This extensive operation spanned all 28 police districts within Punjab. ADGP Law and Order Gurinder Singh Dhillon provided insights into the operation's execution.

To ensure the operation's success, all Commissionerates of Police (CPs) and Senior Superintendents of Police (SSPs) were instructed to deploy robust police teams led by either an Inspector or Sub-Inspector. Additionally, police teams were tasked with identifying and apprehending individuals displaying suspicious behavior during the operation.

Over 150 teams comprising a minimum of 500 police personnel were engaged in conducting raids at the 264 identified hideouts associated with these gangsters. The decision to initiate this operation stemmed from the interrogation of several gang members who had previously been apprehended within the state.

Throughout the operation, police teams meticulously combed through the residences and premises linked to these criminal elements. Additionally, they seized electronic devices to gather valuable data for subsequent forensic examination. As a result of these raids, two individuals suspected of involvement in criminal activities were taken into custody for questioning.

This sweeping operation represents a determined effort by the Punjab Police to crack down on criminal networks and curb the influence of anti-national elements within the state. The data collected during these raids and subsequent investigations will be instrumental in ensuring the safety and security of Punjab's residents while dismantling criminal networks operating in the region.
