Security beefed up as tension prevails at Chandigarh-Mohali border

Chandigarh, February 10: Chandigarh, Mohali police beefed up security at Chandigarh-Mohali border as protestors continue to stage a sit-in and refused entry into Chandigarh.  

Chandigarh Police on Friday deployed more police personnel who are keeping close eye on both the sides of border as well as protesters also. Chandigarh DGP and other officials are also participating in keeping eye on protesters.

In the meanwhile, some special arrangements have also been made by Chandigarh Police. 

The members of the National Justice Front have been continuously trying to march towards Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s residence seeking the release of Bandi Singhs. 


Meanwhile, a violent clash broke out between jatha members of Quami Insaaf Morcha and the Chandigarh Police, after the former tried to break the barricades to march towards the Punjab CM's residence. The incident took place on the dividing road of Sector 52 and 53. 

As many as 33 cops were injured and dozens of police vehicles damaged after the armed protesters, under the banner of Qaumi Insaaf Morcha. 

Meanwhile, earlier on Thursday, both Chandigarh and Mohali Police registered FIRs against unidentified persons for violence at the Chandigarh-Mohali border.
