Punjab Cabinet: Tube well meters to be installed at 6 places, farmers to get subsidy

In a major decision by the Punjab Cabinet, meters will be installed at 6 places on the agricultural tube wells in Punjab. In order to save depletion of groundwater and encourage power save, farmers are set to get a cashback on the power save by them while carrying out agricultural operations. For each unit of power save, a direct benefit transfer of the cost of power saved will be made into their bank accounts. Punjab Cabinet Decision: 6 Meters to be placed on Tubewells A new order has been issued by the Punjab Government to the farmers concerned about debt in the state. As per the decision taken in the Cabinet meeting today, the government has decided to install meters on agricultural tube wells. The government has said that the subsidy will be directly deposited in the farmers 'accounts. Six meters will be installed during the pilot project. -PTC News
